Cutback Bitumen is produced by dissolving penetration grade bitumen in volatile petroleum solvents to reduce its viscosity for easier handling and application at lower temperatures. This allows the bitumen to be used without heating in certain construction conditions. It is commonly used for surface dressing, prime coating, and cold weather road applications. Cutback bitumen grades such as RC, MC, and SC are manufactured in accordance with ASTM D2027, ensuring reliable performance and proper curing through solvent evaporation.
